Julie’s first commission for television was whilst still at University from BBC Wales for the weekly chat show ‘The Celtic Road Show’. She has gone on to write numerous scores for Theatre, Concert, BBC Radio Drama and multiple orchestral albums for production music featured in Wildlife, Natural History and Human Drama documentaries, Advertising and European Film.

For BBC Radio Drama commissioned soundtracks include Javier Marías’ ’Tomorrow in the Battle Think on Me’, Jean-Paul Sartre’s trilogy The Roads To Freedom, Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, Robert Ferguson’s Dr. Ibsen’s Ghosts, Jane Austen’s Lady Susan.
For stage Under Milk Wood (Plymouth Theatre Royal/UK tour), Macbeth (Open Air Theatre, Regents Park), Rebecca (UK Tour), Double Take (Deborah Moggach/Minerva Chichester), The Business of Murder (Thorndike Theatre), Angeli Ai Confini (Teatro Del’Angolo, Torino/Geneva).
Commissions for the IMAGINATION creative agency include NatWest, Ford, Accenture etc.

In parallel to her writing for drama, Julie has written numerous concert works for extremely varied instrumental combinations (percussion quartet through to full symphony orchestra) for performances both nationally and internationally in venues ranging from New York’s intimate Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (Soprano Claire Moore/Serenading Tides), Spain’s International Music Festival Portico Do Paraiso ( 4-Mality/ Spirit of The Sound) etc to larger venues such as The Royal Albert Hall ( SEASONS, originally commissioned for Dame Evelyn Glennie performed at Chichester Cathedral and St.Pauls London, later performed at The Royal Albert Hall by Danish percussionists The Safri Duo with stage band and again at the Royal Albert Hall performed by Oliver Cox with the City of London Philharmonic. St.Martin-in-the-Fields has played host to the world premieres of many of her concert works with her long association with The Locrian Ensemble of London (CARIAD, recorded at Angel Studios with Justin Pearson solo cello was released on Cirrus Records. Sceptre of the Dove, a fantasy for alto flute/flute and chamber orchestra premiered by Andy Findon, featured in the opening concert of St.Martin-in-the-Fields’ Diamond Jubilee celebrations for HRH Queen Elizabeth II ‘The Diamond Jubilee Proms’.

Julie is Composer-in-Residence and Orchestrator for the education project CRAZY COMPOSERS, devised by Robert Howes (BAFTA award winning television company ‘The Children’s Company’) in partnership with the UK’s leading Baroque orchestra ‘The English Concert’, featured in the 2015 and 2016 Buxton Opera Festival.

Projects for 2017 include orchestrating a concert tour for contemporary folk band RANAGRI and Soundscape Chamber Orchestra.
