Universal Production Music is thrilled that 100% HER has been nominated for DE&I Initiative of the Year at the Music Week Women in Music Awards 2023. The DE&I Initiative of the Year is a new Music Week Women in Music award category, dedicated to specific initiatives that advocate for diversity and inclusion in the music industry.

100% HER aims to proactively welcome and nurture diverse talent in Production Music by facilitating sustainable career options for female-identifying and non-binary composers, writers, and producers. The initiative strives for gender parity, inclusion, and equality within the production music industry. Beginning as a single-album project in the UK in 2019, the Universal Production Music initiative supported by shesaid.so and She is the Music has been evolving ever since.

100% HER has now expanded into the US, France, Germany, South Africa and the Nordics and runs mentorship programs, panels and events, as well as continuing to release album projects. Most recently, 100% HER held an educational panel discussion and networking event at the Grammy Museum in the US, accumulating in over 200 attendees and dozens of new writers added to the Universal Production Music composer roster. In 2022, the UK and France embarked on a mentorship program which also resulted in each female-identifying composer, songwriter and producer involved in the mentorship become a mainstay on the Universal Production Music core roster.

Sam Pake, Producer and Lead for 100% HER in the UK, said:

“Throughout my career, there has always been a lack of representation and visible role models for women in the music industry. Through 100% HER, we have been able to create new career opportunities for female-identifying composers and build a supportive community.

Gaining this sort of recognition for 100% HER and Production music is absolutely incredible. Our next project is the 100% HER Production Music Songwriting Camp in September 2023, supported by The Ivors Academy. Watch this space!”

Congratulations to Universal Production Music’s Producer Sam Pake and all the teams and collaborators involved in this important and meaningful initiative.
