As a kid, I listened to my heroes on vinyl records. I didn't totally understand the dialect of these untamed tribes, but I could grasp its essence: a message of freedom and escape which could not be expressed with words. It came as an (electro)shock, to me: I had to speak that language fluently (Pop especially). I got a fake Gibson SG and I started playing with my own bands. What happened next seemed quite natural.
